Sunday 22nd September 2019

Emily opened the day with the announcements and told the church that the submission process for a new minister was over, and that there would be a meeting of session and presentation in Belfast then followed by a presentation and a vote on the new candidate. Edna Crammond would represent the church at the meeting up north along with Gary McDowell.
Next
Terry opened the service with a prayer and then went on to invite the little folk to come up and see what he had in his famous " doggie" bag.
He then went on and expanded on the relevance of each item that he showed the children from his bag and how they were all playing an important role in life.

Summary of the Service for 31st August 2019  thanks to Robert Hendry

Rev Trevor Morrow was welcomed by Emily
Trevor Called the children up to the front of the church and showed them pictures of different hats and asked them “Who wears these?”
After showing them 5 different hats ( Chef / bakers hat, Stetson, Sports Cap, Crown (King or Queen) Top Hat as normally worn by a Leprechaun and finally a crown of thorns.)

He mentioned that Jesus wore a crown of thorns as a punishment  and a mockery since it declared him to be the King of the Jews. Even the Jewish Sanhedrin refused to acknowledge Jesus as their “King”.
Pilate, the leader of the Roman Authority in Israel thought it appropriate for the situation. In David’s Psalm No 110, David acknowledged as the greatest King in the history of the Jews also acknowledged Jesus as greater that he is and sitting ät the right hand of God and having thye world as his foot stool”.

Trevor continued his sermon by showing through the scriptures how Jesus is acknowledged as not just a normal person but also as a rather extraordinary man who suffered and died  for the sins of the world, and even acknowledged, by one of the thieves on the cross next to Jesus on Calvary when he asked Jesus “Remember me when you come into your Kingdom”
The sermon was then followed by Holy Communion
